In 1939, Chinese Americans lobbied to stop shipments of scrap iron to Japan. Japan had invaded Manchuria, and the scrap iron would be used in war material against the Chinese people.

fuck yeah asian/pacific islander history

this tumblr celebrates a/pi american history and identity. so, fuck yeah. we can't let history books tell our stories for us (mainly because they're not doing shit anyways. two lines about japanese internment just doesn't do it for me.) and we can't wait for the media to decide when our voices will be heard.

1. hi-res image (min 450 width pixels)
2. black and white. for aesthetic reasons...also to symbolize how the asian/pacific islander experience has been historically filtered through a black and white paradigm.
3. statement about the image. we're also here to educate b/c many of us have never been taught these histories. this is a learning process for myself as well.
